I bought this item as a gift for my wife. After about one month of use, the kettle whistle will no longer close. From reading other reviews on Amazon, this seems to be a common problem. I would not at all recommend this kettle to anyone.well.I'd recommend it to people I hate.
I bought this a little over six months ago and tried to not leave water in it, BUT inevitably, I ended up letting a little water sit in the kettle. Now, there are little rust spots all over the inside of the kettle. The water doesn't taste rusty yet, but I was hoping that because this teakettle was stainless steel, that it wouldn't rust. After reading more about 18/10 stainless, I guess it's not impervious to rust, so sadly, this kettle can rust.
It is made very well,I like that it is not electric and it's sturdy, good manageable size, reminds me of something from the 1950's, so cute.It really whistles and heats up fast. My mothers electric teakettle had broken. I needed to find a new one but came across this darling kettle on Amazon. She loves it. Me too.
I've never written a review of a product before, but this one poses a safety hazard. Quite simply, this kettle is a piece of junk. The first time that I used the kettle, the metal piece that causes the kettle to whistle flew off when I opened the spout. So the super-heated disc flies across the kitchen every time I use it. Don't risk burning your fingers or someone else's--buy a different kettle. This one's going into the trash.
The first time I used this teapot, it leaked all over my stove. It had a hole in the bottom where the rim attaches.
